Make a request for review and contestation

If you are refused legal aid or if it is withdrawn, you may contest the decision within the following 30 days. For example, you may, by the review application, contest the reimbursement request and the amount of contribution.

What is involved in the review application?

The review application is a document that specifies the reasons invoked to contest the decision of refusal or withdrawal of legal aid. It must be sent by registered or certified mail to the attention of:

Review Committee
COMMISSION DES SERVICES JURIDIQUES
Review Committee
C.P. 123, Succursale Desjardins
Montréal H5B 1B3

The review committee will give you a chance to present your observations. After studying your file, the committee will make a final written decision that cannot be appealed.

Application for contestation

An interested party to a litigation may contest the financial eligibility (and not the service coverage) of a beneficiary. The application for contestation must be written, specify the motives invoked, and contain supporting evidence.

The application for contestation must be addressed to the Corporate Secretary of the CCJM:

Me Gilles Trudeau
Corporate Secretary
Centre communautaire juridique de Montréal
425, boul. de Maisonneuve Ouest, Bureau 600
Montréal (Québec) H3A 3K5

Following the recommendation of the Corporate Secretary, the decision of the General Director may be subject to a review application in the 15 days following the decision.

For more information, please contact Me Gilles Trudeau by email at [email protected] or send him all supporting evidence by fax at 514-864-1515.
